Lady in Leather and a Giveaway

Handbag – Mary Nichols | Dress – Rolando Santana (all love this (splurge) and this (steal)) | Bracelets – Forever 21, and c/o Poshlocket | Shoes – Jimmy Choo

They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, and maybe that’s true, but diamonds aren’t there for you to hold your phone, wallet, and makeup. In my opinion, every girl needs a few amazingly chic leather handbags. So when this  Mary Nichols handbag arrived in the mail, I immediately threw my lip gloss and wallet in and went for a walk around town. I just wanted to show it off, okay?! I also l.o.v.e. the Laura Clutch, which will be coming out in leather soon.

And a giveaway: So, the reason I’m so smiley today is because the lovely Mary Nichols is sponsoring a giveaway for one lucky GirlAvantGarde reader. Those three gorgeous (I mean GORGEOUS) bangles in the last picture below are up for grabs. All you have to do is: Like Mary Nichols Facebook page. That’s it! Make sure you leave a comment to confirm you entered (and I’ll double check). I will announce the random winner on the morning of August 7th, one week from today!

Update: This giveaway is now closed.

Birthday Wishlist

My birthday is coming up on Thursday and I’ll be 24. But I’m getting so old, frankly it’s time I start lying about my age. Even though I still wish I was 7, I’m happy that I can at least get away with dressing like a grown up version of a little princess. My style is so absolutely girly, and of course, in putting together my wish list, a theme started to shine through: pastels, feminine silhouettes, and touches of silver. And since my birthday falls on the 2nd day of August, I’m always conscious of the looming Autumn, which is why, this year, I picked out pieces that I can wear both now and into the cooler temperatures. As for now, I’ll be wishing on a candle for health and happiness for my family and friends, and, okay, maybe a few of the below.

From the top, and going left to right in rows:

1. All Saints Walker Leather Biker Jacket 2. Rebecca Minkoff Whipstitch Mac Clutch 3. Jcrew Zigzag Sequin Tee 4. Stella & Dot Tempest Necklace 5. Dolce Vita Dira Bootie (sale!) 6. Rebecca Minkoff  Polka Dot Quilted Flirty Bag 7. Jeffrey Campbell Flave Suede Pumps 8. T by Alexander Wang Leather Mini 9. Kate Spade Senorita Skirt

Life Lately

{Some yachts on the dock in Portland}

Last weekend, Josh and I went on a mini getaway to Maine. It was so much more laid back than the always chaotic New York City, and a wonderful change of pace. We enjoyed shopping in Portland (where I saw these adorable baby Toms and beaded bracelets), lobster dinners by the pier (it was so fresh!), a relaxing day on the lake (absolutely love the summer sun), and a game of miniature golf (I lost). And this weekend, I’m looking forward to sleeping late, lounging by the pool, and delicious dinners with family. Isn’t the summer wonderful? Happy weekend!

{Baby Toms I thought were tres cute}

{A pretty painted little lighthouse statute}

{The gorgeous lake and Josh’s cousins’ dog that entertained us for days}

{Teeny blueberry trees everywhere}

{The cutest beaded cuffs}

The Statement Necklace

Necklace c/o Lisa Leonard Designs | Maxi – Forever21 | Bracelets - Forever21 | Bag – Z Spoke by Zac Posen (sold out, but similar and on sale! here) | Heels – Dior | Nails – Essie Mint Candy Apple

I was so utterly cranky before we took these pictures on Tuesday. Our flight home from Maine on Monday evening got cancelled, so we woke up at 4am taking the earliest flight, and ran to work. It’s days like those where sometimes you need a statement necklace to say, “I can brighten up your day.” Because face it, anyone can rock a statement necklace, everyone needs at least one, and this turquoise one from Lisa Leonard Designs is absolutely to. die. for. I paired it here with a chic black maxi, killer Dior heels, and a Zac Posen bag, but you can wear it with anything, a t-shirt and jeans, day dress, whatever…which is you why you simply must check out Lisa Leonard Designs’ amazing jewelry. You can also follow their blog, Pinterest, or Facebook. I know I am!

Strawberry covered chocolates

Maybe it’s because they’re an aphrodisiac, maybe because I feel like I’m kinda sorta being healthy by eating “fruit”, or maybe they’re just delicious, but suffice it to say, I’m a sucker for chocolate covered strawberries. They’re so easy to make and I eat them so often, that I had a bit of an epiphany. What about an inside out version? And so that’s just what I did here. Although I thought for a hot sec I was genius, a quick google search revealed strawberry covered chocolates had already been done. So I followed this recipe, scooping out the middles, dripping in the chocolate mix (minus the Kahlua), and adding a little chocolate whipped cream and strawberry leaf garnish. Simple and sweet.
