A lot of my free time lately has been dedicated to wedding planning, and honestly, it’s so much fun! Often the amount of details that go into wedding planning can get overwhelming, but when it comes to the big picture, wedding planning is really easy. I’ve put together 10 steps to planning a wedding, which includes, for the most part, the order I’ve done things. Our engagement is only going to be about a year long, and that is plenty of time to plan a wedding! Of course these steps are in no way full proof, or right for everyone, but you can always customize it to fit your needs. (More information on specifics below)
Stationary/invitations: So far, we’ve had great experiences with Wedding Paper Divas. We just ordered our Save the Dates from them and absolutely love them. WPD just came out with a ton of new invitations and styles, and they’re too perfect!
Setting the Date/Securing the venue: For us, this was the most stressful part. We wanted it to be ideal for everyone. But when you’re having a large wedding sometimes that isn’t possible. You just have to make the best of it.
Picking your vendors: Because our wedding is out of town, we relied a lot of wedding blogs like Style Me Pretty as well as suggestions from our vendors themselves. Our wedding will be in Newport, RI, so if you need suggestions for that area, or have any recommendations, please shoot me an email!
Choosing your bridesmaids: This is so tricky because you don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, or put the pressure on anyone either. I thought about my picks for 4 months before asking! We’re now in the process of picking out dresses.
Picking out your wedding dress: The best part!
The extra events: Bachelorette party, bridal shower, engagement party, rehearsal dinner. These are all optional depending on your situation! But they’re all fun (so I hear)!
Honeymoon: Get started on this early so that your first choice hotels and flights don’t book up. We just booked out honeymoon to Greece and Italy. Can’t wait!
