Summer with Spiegel

I first discovered Spiegel when I was probably 12 years old, an awkward pre-teen sifting through catalogs and magazines and hoping that when I got my braces off I’d look cuter in that dress, those shoes, that hat. Twelve and a half years later, I still look at Spiegel  and still day dream about their clothes in different scenarios. Some things never change.

Spiegel is so great because its a company that has been around forever; since the 19th century! And I love that…they really get women and how women want to look and feel. Enough to get me to make a summer inspiration board and want to buy everything on it. And wear it to the beach. Or in the Hamptons. Ooh, or on a rendez-vous Greece!

This post was sponsored by Spiegel. However, all opinions are my own.

Look at me, I’m on TV!

I haven’t even passed the bar yet, but after having the opportunity to film Inspired Style with Amy Stran, I’m already contemplating a career change. (Just kidding, mom!) But seriously, last month I met up with the QVC team and Amy in Philadelphia to film a segment on the latest trends. We walked around Rittenhouse Square spotting blazers in all sorts of styles and shapes and got inspired to try out some new styles of our own! All in a days work.

Be sure to tune in or set your DVRs to Inspired Style (and my first ever tv appearance) tonight!

Today officially marks the one year anniversary of Girl Avant Garde. In many ways, I feel like this blog is much older than a year because it has so seamlessly become a part of my life. When I started this blog, I didn’t realize what an important piece of my heart it would hold. Girl Avant Garde has been my daily escape from the everyday norm, my happy place in times of stress, and my creative outlet. I love to look back and see how my blog has slowly progressed and have a place to remember all the beautiful parts of life. This past year I: traveled from Maine to Florida, interned at two law firms, learned how to bake and cook for my man, graduated from law school, won an appearance on QVC’s Inspired Style, appeared on the web sites’ of Teen Vogue, New York Times, and Lucky Magazine, went to my first fashion week, and got engaged! Below are links to a couple of my favorite posts throughout the year. Cheers to year one and many more!

The start of last summer, when we used to shoot outfit photos on my iPhone. I kind of love the retro look of the images, but, wow, what a blast from the past.

One of my first recipes was this blueberry beach jello I made for our 4th of July Party last year.

Another early outfit post from the beginning. I’ve aged so much compared to now (last month at the Plaza)

This DIY glitter coaster post has been one of my most popular ones, and I can kind of see why (if I do say so myself) ;)

When I filmed my first video with Rachel Martino.

I wrote this Valentine’s Day Post about Josh and me 2 months before we were engaged. I love looking back on it and knowing that despite the stresses of wedding planning, things haven’t changed.

And I’ll always remember the day we got engaged
