Walk the Walk NYC

the moonwalk new york city

When the people behind Walk the Walk contacted me to let me know about “The MoonWalk” I was more than eager to share the great cause on Girl Avant Garde. The MoonWalk, presented by Empire BlueCross BlueShield, is an overnight walk through New York City aimed to raise $2 million dollars to Memorial Sloan-Ketting Cancer Center to support the Breast Examination Center and its uninsured patients. I feel as though everyone knows at least one woman, whether close or distant, who has been affected by breast cancer and rather than allow it to pierce through society, it’s important to support each other. If you’re in NYC on July 20th, I encourage you to sign up for the walk or find out more information about it here.

This is a sponsored post from One2One Network and Walk The Walk, all proceeds of which I am donating to Walk The Walk. All opinions stated are my own.

Guest Post ~ Golden White Decor

Last but not least, Lauren and Marika aka the Golden Girls are stopping by GirlAvantGarde to show their Cali chic styles. Golden White Decor makes me wish I lived in California – white sand, bright colors, laid back life. But since I’m across the country, I visit Lauren and Marika’s blog instead. I asked the girls to share their favorite holiday outfits, and  they chose lots of sparkle, red, and party dresses. If only I could raid their closets…

Guest Post ~ To Vogue or Bust

Alexandra’s blog To Vogue or Bust was one of the first personal style blogs I ever stumbled upon, and I am so glad I did. It’s become one of my daily reads ever since. I absolutely love Alexandra’s classy style – she’s so Audrey Hepburn, right?

Hello girlavantgarde readers! I’m Alexandra and I’m the Vancouver-based style blogger behind To Vogue or Bust, where I document my love for all things fashion! As a blogger and writer by trade, I’m often hopping from one event to another in our busy city’s industry circuit—to make a look transition easily during the evening, sticking to a femme silhouette in classic black (it really can’t get more easy than black) makes for an amazing base. Swap accessories in and out for different looks as you see fit, though I advise sticking to metallic hues—silver in particular screams holidays!

Hope you all get a chance to stop by my blog, and best of luck to Courtney, who’s in the throes of a busy exam period!

I’m interrupting guest post week to happily announce that I’ve won Send the Trend’s STTyle Challenge!!!! I was so lucky just to be included in a group with these amazing bloggers (whom I’ve admired from the start). I’m even luckier to have you all. Thank you, thank you to my dedicated readers, family and friends for voting! As part of my winnings, I will be working with Send the Trend (so get excited, you’ll see lots more of their products). I’ll also be appearing on  QVC’s Inspired Style. Stay tuned!

Guest Post ~ Daily Disguise

I’m on hiatus this week during my law school finals, so  feel free to follow along via twitter and instagram. While I’m in study mode, swapping my skirts for leggings and chugging espresso too many times a day, a few of my blogger friends are generously stepping in and taking over GirlAvantGarde these next 5 days. I’ve asked them to share their holiday and winter inspirations through fashion or baking. First up is Lucy of Daily Disguise. I stalked Lucy’s blog before meeting her in September during New York Fashion Week. Not only is Lucy brilliant (she has a JD and MBA), but she’s adorable and stylish as well. I love how she manages to mix prints and incorporate trends flawlessly into every look. xo- Courtney

Holiday season is in full swing and nothing says holiday quite like fair isle. Last year I searched high and low for fair isle but came out empty handed, the perfect pattern was no where to be found. This year, I was still thinking about turkey, cranberry sauce, and mashed potatoes when fair isle threw itself at me. There’s certainly no shortage of fair isle this year and you can bet that I’ll be rocking it well past the holidays until the first hint of spring. – Lucy
