Given the warm weather thats suddenly swept through NYC, I decided to break out my floral prints and panama hat. I’ve been wearing this Annie Griffin top paired multiple ways lately: like a white skirt or black skinnies. That’s why I love florals, the combinations are endless. This time, for a shopping trip in the city, I went for a laid back look with loose jeans and cozy wedges.

This week I’m taking a staycation before I graduate and begin to study for the bar. That means I’m lying low, relaxing, and doing the things I love to do. No other outfit I own says “hakuna matata” like this one.

I love a good excuse to go shopping and the sales on Memorial Day are definitely worthy of a splurge on summer items like sunglasses and bathing suits, as well as gifts for graduations, weddings, etc. So I’m definitely looking forward to spending this weekend stocking up and then making use of my purchases at the beach! Gap: Gap is offering 15% off with the code GAPGIFT. On my list: this striped tee-shirt, this striped maxi dress, and these jeans shorts.

J.Crew: Season after season J.Crew gets better and better. J.Crew is offering up to $75 off with the code SHOPNOW. I recently bought the Panama Hat which I can’t stop wearing. Also on my wishlist: this chiffon top, these drawstring pants, and this strapless jumpsuit.

Josh and I had so much fun on Saturday in Newport, Rhode Island. The weather was beautiful and so we were in such good moods. When packing for Newport, I felt like my new Sail to Sable tunic dress screamed ”Newport prep” aka “pack me”. So I did. I’m not sure if you can tell from the pictures but it has the tiniest bit of roped fabric at the hemline creating a unique scalloped effect. And I just love it. And so did Josh! And he never loves my clothes.

This past weekend  marked our second weekend looking at wedding venues and I officially have wedding fever. To be totally candid, wedding planning is fun and exciting, but a tiny bit stressful. There is so much to focus on, in a short amount of time, and it’s only the beginning. We want the very best and we also want to make everyone happy.

So we’re still trying to find our happy medium and create a dream wedding that meets both our needs and wishes as well as our families’. And while we do so, I thought I’d share some photos that are currently inspiring our dream wedding look. All these photos and way more can be found on my Pinterest board. Since it was practically summer in the city yesterday, I went with a not so mellow yellow dress to usher in the warm weather. It was so hot outside that I had to turn on our air conditioning for a hot second (pun intended)…not that I’m complaining. Anyway, I always say there are two ways to wear brights: paired with a neutral color for a subtle pop, or together with other brights for a dramatic effect. Here, you can see both.

I wore this outfit to meet up with my hysterical and fun friend Hitha of Hitha On the Go. It’s always fun to catch up over cocktails and talk about the future. Then we stopped by Wink for an event with the always fabulous Kat! (And ran into Katie too. So many bloggers in this lil’ city.)

You know what they say, “when life gives you lemons, make cupcakes!” Okay..maybe I have that quote a little off. But I think cupcakes are better than lemonade. And nothing screams “summer is around the corner” like a sunshine colored cupcake, right?

Yesterday was my perfect kind of day. The kind where you’re so busy balancing every aspect of your life, getting things done, and enjoying it all so much that when the day is over you’re totally exhausted. And happy. And proud of yourself for being so productive. My day started with waking up with Josh at 6:30 to take blog photos (we’ve been behind lately). Then an iced coffee jolt (which is clearly still working, considering the amount of detail I’m going into here). Then I wrote a paper for school (oh, did I fail to mention I had to write a paper still. Ugh. I did.). Then these lemon cherry cupcakes. Cleaned the apartment. And met Josh at Bloomingdales to start on our wedding registry.

So, although I’m starting to count calories for our wedding day, I think a bit of sunshine from the kitchen is a well deserved treat. And they’re delicious. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t. (Excuses, excuses!)

Cupcake Recipe

1/2 box of vanilla cake mix | 1/2 tablespoon of lemon zest | 1/4 cup of softened butter | 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice | 1.5 eggs | 1/4 water

Frosting Recipe

2 cups powdered sugar | 1/4 cup soften butter | 1/4 squeezed lemon | 12 rainer cherries (optional)

Yesterday, I had such a wonderful time filming a segment for QVC’s Inspired Style as part of my prize for winning the Send the Trend contest. I woke up early to travel to Philadelphia, where I had my makeup done and then met Amy Stran and the rest of the QVC team in Rittenhouse Square. Working on television is so much fun, and I’m kind of contemplating a career change after all that (just kidding). I chose an outfit complete with clothes that emulated the trends we were spotting on the streets. Can you guess what they were? I also wanted to find a balance between trendy and sophisticated, so I chose a professional blazer that counterbalanced my girly cobalt blue dress.

Yesterday, I had so much fun attending Kate Spade‘s new flagship store opening party at 789 Madison Avenue in New York City. It’s pretty obvious I’m Kate Spade obsessed, so I had to take a deep breath (think Confessions of a Shopaholic deep breath) as I walked into the glamorous 4 story building  filled with colorful bows, sparkle, and all things girly. I sipped on rose champagne and spent way too long admiring the bridal section (which takes up half the fourth floor), while mentally checking off things to add to our wedding registry.

Today the store is open to the public, and if you’re in the city you must stop by! I’m still thinking about a pair of earrings I left without, so maybe I’ll see you there.
