If you peeked into my closet, you’d notice that I tend to buy clothes in a few colors: black, beige, blue and green. So I’m trying to venture out and try new colors and patterns. I never though that orange would work well with my skin coloring, which has weird yellow undertones. But I loved the cut of this dress, so I thought I’d give it a try. To make the look even more fun, I chose unique, colorful, and contrasting accessories from Sira & Mara, Taara, and J.crew.

Although I’m thankful to Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez for making big butts stylish, I am still so self-conscious about my own. So when I find an outfit that works for my body, I have to have it. This fit and flare dress from Eshakti is just one example. I love dresses that draw eyes to my narrowest part – my waist. I was instantly attracted to this dress because of its 1950s vibe, bold stripes, and classic design; and I had no fear about ordering it online, since Eshakti customizes the fit. I wore it out to dinner last weekend when visiting my family in New Jersey. We went to my favorite restaurant Taverna Ouzo and despite stuffing myself with hummus and wine (like a lady), I still felt comfortable and put together.

There are a combination of things about this outfit that make me feel like I’m the Madhatter in Alice and Wonderland – particularly the illusory pattern on the dress, and the fit and flare shape of it. Still, I saw it in the window on my way home from school and fell for it immediately. There’s just the slightest bit of tulle around the waist that keeps the entire silhouette from falling flat. A week later, I wore this outfit to my last few NYFW events – Prabal Gurung, Carolina Herrera, and Alice & Olivia. I also wore a classic and crisp white blazer to keep me warm, and modern black booties to top off the look. It’s fun to be a little edgy once in a while.

The dreamer in me plans my outfits for special events and even holidays way in advance. For our Valentine’s Day dinner date, I’ll be wearing this maxi. Navy, green, and white is a refreshing and unexpected contrast from the shades of pinks and reds on everyone else and the length of the dress is romantic in its own way. Because I’ll be going straight from class to dinner, I’ll dress it down during the day with a long cardigan, and then show off the neckline when the sun sets.

The name of this dress is “Great Deception”. It sounds so mysterious and scandalous…so all the more reason to love it. I’m also kind of obsessed with the neckline, which is very unique and different from any other dress I own. I wore it out last Saturday night. I always dress up for nights out because I feel like the more special the outfit, then the more special the night will become. (Okay, I tend to make up superstitions that work in my favor.) Anyway, Beauxx.com seriously has a ton of dresses currently taking up spots on my wish list including this, this, and this one.
