Summer lovin’

victorias secret maxi and big hat

Hat – Forever 21 | Maxi – Victoria’s Secret | Bangle – Forever 21 | Watch – Michael Kors | Sandals – Athena Alexander (on sale!)

One of my goals this week is to make summer last as long as possible. Maybe it’s the amazing fall clothes the stores have filled up with, or maybe it’s because next week is the first week of school, but either way, to me, this is the last week of summer. So with the week off, I’ve decided to soak up as much sun as possible, spending time outdoors in my favorite summer uniforms, including this maxi and sandals. Goodness, I hate the last day of sandals.

City Gal

Growing up in the suburbs an hour outside NYC, it was always my dream to become a city girl. But instead of moving there straight out of high school 6 years ago, I opted to do something totally different, and go to college in Madison, Wisconsin. It was a huge change and the most incredible experience, but I’m happy to be back east and living in the big apple now. Although I love the chaos of the city on a daily basis, it’s always nice to visit my family on the other side of the river. And on Sunday, Josh and I did just that. It was my youngest brother’s birthday, and we celebrated with dinner at the Chart House, where I wore this LBD (little blue dress).

Bubbles

Necklace c/o Cheerfully Charmed | Top – Forever21 | Jeggings – Zara | Watch – Michael Kors | Bracelet – Forever 21 | Bag – Mary Nichols | Heels c/o Shoppalu

I’ve been experimenting with unique color combinations lately, like red and turquoise last seen here, and in this post peach and navy. I wore this outfit to dinner last weekend and the jeans (which are actually jeggings) were the perfect amount of  comfortable for that after dinner food baby feeling. To make an otherwise simple outfit extra special I chose this pretty *bubble* necklace from Cheerfully Charmed (on sale and buy 2, get 1 free!). When you’re dressed with touches of playfulness, the night just has to go perfectly, doesn’t it?

On a side note: The Mary Nichols Bangles giveaway winner is Jyoti of Style-Delights. Congrats, girl! Thank you to everyone who participated, and you are not without reward. The Mary Nichols Elizabeth clutch I’ve been eyeing is now on sale for $75 (originally $275) in these colors: 1 | 2 |  3 . Such a good excuse to treat yourself.

The Statement Necklace

Necklace c/o Lisa Leonard Designs | Maxi – Forever21 | Bracelets - Forever21 | Bag – Z Spoke by Zac Posen (sold out, but similar and on sale! here) | Heels – Dior | Nails – Essie Mint Candy Apple

I was so utterly cranky before we took these pictures on Tuesday. Our flight home from Maine on Monday evening got cancelled, so we woke up at 4am taking the earliest flight, and ran to work. It’s days like those where sometimes you need a statement necklace to say, “I can brighten up your day.” Because face it, anyone can rock a statement necklace, everyone needs at least one, and this turquoise one from Lisa Leonard Designs is absolutely to. die. for. I paired it here with a chic black maxi, killer Dior heels, and a Zac Posen bag, but you can wear it with anything, a t-shirt and jeans, day dress, whatever…which is you why you simply must check out Lisa Leonard Designs’ amazing jewelry. You can also follow their blog, Pinterest, or Facebook. I know I am!

The Blues

Dress – Forever 21 | Earrings – Kate Spade | Bracelet – Forever 21 (similar)| Wedges – Old (similar) | Nails – This color

Well, if it isn’t a little ironic to be standing by this sparkling pool that just screams “put on a bathing suit”, in an outfit all ready to go out, then I don’t know what is. But, I guess that is just my style and that’s just what I did here. I feel my most feminine in dresses; in fact I often sleep in the silky sorts. And given the beautiful weather here in New York, I don’t have to worry about showing some skin in my own, dressed up kind of way. So here I am, dressed up in blue.
